JACQUELINE JENKINS, C'89

...my biggest business accomplishment is the women that I am fortunate to mentor as an educator, member of my church, family friend or as an experienced professional...it's how I fulfill part of my life’s purpose.

Fashion Dean? Fashion Queen: "From 9-to-5, I have the pleasure of developing the next generation of fashion industry leaders. As dean of graduate studies at a fashion college in New York City, I oversee four graduate programs that focus on marketing, fashion merchandising & retail management, and visual merchandising. As a result of my corporate finance work with Ann Taylor, Inc., I was inspired to launch a master of professional studies in global fashion supply chain management. In January 2018, my first textbook will be available, Fashion Supply Chain Management. Because education has evolved from the classroom to being able to learn when and wherever you can, I was the academic lead for the development of the College’s first full-fledged online degree programs."

JACQUI Has A Master Plan: "Since a little girl, I have always loved fashion. My passion for fashion goes back to my days of playing  with paper dolls. The thing that I loved about paper dolls was that by changing outfits, I believed that my dolls could change their mood, show their personal style, and most importantly live their dreams. As I fast forward to today, I have taken my love for fashion to create Sophisticated Curation, a fashion community for the 40 plus fashionista. In today's social media world, the images and the content speak primarily to a younger generation. Additionally, when I talk with other women, I often hear their frustration in being unable to find fashions that meet their style interests. Through community, content, and commerce, Sophisticated Curation plans to give voice to this often forgotten consumer." To be a part of this community, please like Sophicsticated Curation on Facebook.

Playa Hatin' Unnecessary. I'm Runnin' The Game: "Early on in my career, I decided that the best way to win the game of business was to follow the money. Hence, I studied economics at Spelman College and finance at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. While I may be in what some would consider a pleasure industry, I am focused on where and how to make money in the $1.2 trillion dollar global fashion business."

JACQUI'S Display of #SpelmanBlackGirlBrilliance: "While first exposed to business by my family, it was in college that I met my first mentor, Eileen Maupin. She was my accounting instructor and through her guidance, patience, and impeccable style, she showed me how to be a woman in business. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to benefit from many other women mentors. That is why I believe my biggest business accomplishment is the women that I am fortunate to mentor as an educator, member of my church, family friend or as an experienced professional. I am able to fulfill part of my life’s purpose as a mentor to other women."

Next Up For JACQUI: "Turning 50 gracefully. As I move into my milestone birthday year, I am challenging myself to think bigger, pursue new challenges, get out of my own way, and celebrate the person I am each and every day. Yep, turning 50 is my new life conquest." My News Source In An Apocalypse Is: "VerySmartBrothas.com. I am a news junkie. I like the format and the broad topics of news covered by VSB." Bottomless Brunch or Tapas?: "Bottomless Brunch - I'm a Bellini fan."
